Yesterday morning I made a donation to Rev. Raphael Warnock’s campaign for U.S. Senate. Later that I day I received, not one, not two, but three text messages from the campaign asking me to donate. The sad part is these text asks were minuscule relative to the amount I donated in the morning. I know why campaigns are spammy and wasting our time, but I still think they should stop.

Coaching is a Better Alternative to Classes

When I was in my last position I worked with a lot of inexperienced coders. They were not on my team and their roles were not software developer, but some of their day to day work involved writing and working with code. Since they were not using it, I lobbied our organization to hire General Assembly to teach a version control with git and GitHub workshop. While folks enjoyed the workshop, adoption of git afterwards was not consistent nor widespread.

Do Not Forget to Vote

Tomorrow is Election Day so it is important to vote if you have not. I used to work in politics and have been following the election with some anxiety as a Democrat. The forecasts suggest the Republicans are headed for a red wave. Meanwhile TargetSmart suggests the Democrats are turning out the early vote. In the end the only poll that matters it eh one on Election Day, so do not forget to vote.
