With the rise of GitHub CoPilot I hear software engineers worry about artificial intelligence taking their jobs. This is the third major threat to coding jobs I have seen after offshore outsourcing and no-code tools.

A year ago, sick of the constant stream of ads on YouTube I subscribed to YouTube Premium. At the time a deal made it a reasonable near $100 a month. YouTube started giving me a banner saying “ads are back in February” so I looked and now it would cost me nearly $130 for the year. While I enjoy YouTube, I do not enjoy it more than $100 a year.

Last night Code for Boston met for the first time in 2023. We are shifting from a once or twice a month cadence for hybrid meetups to every other week. The exciting thing is the first meetup of January is almost always the most popular, we had nearly forty people attend in-person.

Lately the cooling fan on my seven year old Nintendo Switch started making strange noises. As someone who has built computers and worked with electronics, I know this is bad news. The options were to either pay money and send the Switch to Nintendo for a week or two for official repair, or buy a kit and do it myself. I did not want to be a week without my Nintendo, and have experience building computers, so opted to do it myself.
