I watched the September 14th hearing of the Massachusetts Legislature on MBTA safety issues so you do not have to. The MBTA does not have the staff it needs to run effectively and they are stuck in firefighting mode.

Senator Warren will lead a hearing entitled “Economic Impacts of Inadequate Transit Maintenance and Oversight: Examining Management Failures at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities” on Friday, October 14. As Chair of the Economic Policy Subcommittee, Senator Warren will preside over the hearing as a member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.

• 9 Tips to Debunk False Claims by Friends and Family was shared by Nate Matias and gives an evidence based approached to fighting misinformation. Spoiler: it’s not about winning the argument as it is leaning in to the trust and going on a journey to explore the misinformation together.
• Kevin Roose is one of my favorite technology journalists and has a new podcast: Hard Fork.
• Bono is coming to Boston and tickets sold out really quickly. I was able to snag one ticket for myself, but the day after there are hundreds of tickets for resale at more than double the initial price. There’s got a be a better way to do event tickets.
